Fallen Angel

Angel standing on the street
White gown cad body....wings bright reaching from head to toe
Feathering soft was falling snow
Clean as clear water rapids
Sun rises in rhythm...moves in tempo...falls in time
Angel still standing watching
                       waiting
Ordinary and average pass
Blind to the brilliance of her presence
to the shine of her closeness
Their thoughts loud swallowing everything seen
           heard
Filth beneath feet
Not earthly clay
Mass societal sins

Their contemplations of wrong
Rising in currents
Covering pearl sandals
muck drowning sheen, submerging gloss in profane scum

Their reflections of life's relief
      sad
      disheartening
Feed the flux, making it flow high
Engulfing pale legs
Touching the tips of wings
White turned blackish green under the tide
Angel not seeing
      not caring
Did nothing
Simply stood feeling sorrow
             feeling fallen

I live in a small rural town outside of Eugene Or. Here I have found my community is like my mind. I can find everything I need with a little searching. My writing has become a method of moving outside of the small minded attitudes I am submerged in, and trying to find the bigger picture.
