The Poetry Webring is a well-established webring of poets, authors,
playwrights, and lovers of poetry and literature. By surfing through
the Ring, you will see a massive showcase of talent and a tremendous
variety of poetry related sites. Whatever your literary pleasure, there
is bound to be something for you.
A webring
is a grouping of sites, usually with a common theme. By using the helpful
services of the webring organisation it is possible to travel around
all sites in the ring and eventually end up at the point you started.
Each
site is a link in the chain
The
Poetry Webring is
not a commercial enterprise. We are volunteers with a common love of
poetry and the internet and we give up a lot of time and invest our
own money to maintain the Ring and keep it running.
Occasionally
in traversing the ring you may find a site no longer exists or no longer
displays the ring links, please advise
us and we will take action. Ring integrity is very important
to us but the nature of the World Wide Web means that many sites are
ephemeral in nature appearing and disappearing from time to time and
changing emphasis.
Membership
The ring is open to new members.
But the criteria for acceptance and staying in the ring has been changed
Criteria:
You must update your site on a monthly basis,I want a ring of poets that are living/breathing life into their poetry.
You must have more than 10 pieces of your work on your site, correctly spelt, unobnoxiously displayed (with or without music) poems.
The membership is limited to poetry sites only; not poetry and kickboxing or poetry and the arts, but POETRY.
The links must be placed on your front page,
and your site must be surfable. Any site that is "under construction" will not be accepted nor will it remain in the ring if found.
With these strict guidelines, you have a 10% chance of being accepted, and once accepted, you 50% chance of remaining a member...as most sites fail to maintain the initial gungho they started with. The webring once contained 3200 members; it now contains 485 and decreasing as I go through and remove sites that no longer meet the new criteria.
