Comments: I read your poem Primer Ano de una Lengua Nueva. I am taking ESL classes, I never thought about how other people felt about learning another language and the way you discribe in your poem I really like it. Also our teacher told us you are coming to Southwestern College and I know I am going to enjoy that moment, and I am going to buy books of your poetry.

Comments: Hi Carmen, I really liked your poems, of course I have to admit that the ones I liked the most were the ones I was able to understand. I especially liked the one called "beautiful". I can totally relate to that poem because eventhough we always say how we prefer to be admired more for what we say better than for how we look; we always end up falling for the compliments we get about our looks. Hey, we are women & vanity betrays us. Also I wanted to mention that today our ESL teacher brought to our class your poem titled "Primer ano de una lengua nueva"; it was interesting to hear different opinions on how we all in class identified with your poem. Thanks & congratulations! Your are a great writer.

Comments: I was reading in my class of ESL51, about your poetry "Primer Ano de Una Lengua Nueva" is hard to understand poetry, but I notice when you wrote "It gives me a shiver to struggle with language after year of sitting at the keyboard certain of myself". I felt the same writing in English as a Second Language. Our class will be in your presentation in Southwestern College. My name is Marisela Espitia and I am 40 years all.

Comments: I read your poem 'Primer ano de una lengua nueva' and I felt, this is for me. Belive me, I am taking english classes after 30 years of not taking classes. I feel great, but it is imposible to not feel nervious when you have to answer any questions, becouse as you write on your poem my tongue is too slow to speak. But this is the reason to be here. Your poem is very nice, in few words you trasmit in ease your feelings. Congratulations and I hope to see you soon.

Comments: Advocacy! by Denny Lancaster 210602 The huddled masses wavered, they stood on the edge of share, wondering - if they dare to care. From the depth of darkness, they heard a woeful sobbing cry, listen to me humans, I'll tell you why. In days of glory, reaching for a star, there never was any wee doubt, my human spirit would go afar. Then misfortune stuck her ugly blow, my fall from glory - sudden and swift, nor any human from my depth would lift. So if you stand and continue to waver and are not counted among the few, one day here with me, you may be too. And now HIS hand reaches upward, a friends misfortune becomes your cry, this is advocacy, now you know why. Nor should we trod a lonely dusty road, without a friend close at our side, for in an advocate, our Lord doth abide. Comments: Hi Carmen Love your stuff,my favourite of the entries. I'm a poet - if by that you mean I have been writing poems all my life since I could put words together. My poetry seems to get worse as I get older which is irritating! I don't have the confidence now to apply to be on this site, perhaps in time. |in the meantime thanks for your poems. Really enjoyed them. Kathy
