This Time

"How much love do you really want?"

I want a lot, and then some more,
enough to lift me off the floor
and carry me to your satin bed,
embracing arms till glowing red.

"How much care will you really need?"

When we slide out of love too soon,
to friendly wine and bouncing moon,
awaiting slight and shifting light
until I hold you close and tight.

"How much wine will you drink tonight?"

More with you than I would alone,
to join in deep and loving moan,
and float atop love's surging sea,
to tase, to kiss, in whimsied glee.

"And...How much time do you NEEDThis Time?"

Less than I needed in the past,
but more than enough to make you last
as we ascend soft clouds above,
to reach as one the summit of love.
