A Quandary

The body shouts
KEEP YOUR DISTANCE!
While eyes whisper;
Touch me if you dare.
Silent words
Sometimes say more--
But I'm not sure I speak your language.
Locked doors are for old women,
And thieves, and lovers.
Why run when you're not chased--
Or are you?
Shadows shrink as the young day
Grows away from night.

Silence

The silence can be deafening--
As I listen for that sound.
In a world of many people--
I can't win the one I've found.
Tho' a tree sheds leaves in autumn--
Is it any less a tree?
Tho' we hurt each other deeply;
You are still the one for me.
