MAP OF THE MOON
Quietness fills each corner of the room
Soft darkness, in
layers, surrounds me
I stand at the window.
Looking out, I see the mere
suggestion of water
As it caresses the restless sand,
Comforting it,
making it sing.
The air around me changes and I know
You
are there.
I feel electricity as you move
closer
Then you turn to gaze outward
And the dark clouds part
expectantly.
The moon sends silver shards of light
Which break along the
lines of your face,
And trickle down your shoulders.
I turn, and reach out to trace
The moon's map of fragile
light
Along your cheek,
Across your lips, which part like the
clouds,
Down your throat,
Following the signs of the moon's ancient
glow.
As I reach your chest,
I replace my fingertips with my
mouth;
Your heart moves beneath my lips
Your breath echoes in my
ears
And fills the room with sound...
