When a Man Cries

When a man cries
in the presence of a woman
he bears forth his entire soul.
     He entrusts her
          with all that he is--
all that he has to give.
When a man cries

When a man accepts
     the comfort of a woman--
     when she absorbs his tears
     into her hair
and the skin of her shoulder,
     his very soul
          is absorbed
               into her own--
When a man accepts
     the comfort of a woman

When a woman absorbs
     the tears of a man,
     drinks in his liquid emotion,
     swallows his soul,
          a transformation takes place--
          a transformation of thoughts,
                                      of feelings,
          a melding of hearts,
                           of minds;
and the man and the woman
          become one.

When a man cries
