So long ago, the whisper "Je suis l'amour"
settled in our hearts
and wrapped itself about our lives:
our love was born.
Each smile begat another;
our hearts melded.
The sky was made purple with our passion,
the air sweetened with our joy,
the earth softened with our weightless step.
"Je suis l'amour" ~ manifest in your treasured touch,
your sunrise smile,
your secret generosity,
your tears of compassion,
your calm port in many troubled storms.
Through the years you gave to me
endless faith and loyalty,
encouragement to scale my molehill mountains,
laughter that rocked our world,
strolls in the moonlight of cherished memories.
"Je suis l'amour" ~ my heart remembers,
and the smile you helped me claim
endures all things,
hopes all things,
sustains me
always.
