It wasn't that long ago when you were telling me you didn't know where you wanted to be,
So you decided to break a heart that you knew you held in the palm of your hand.
Now you're saying that your eyes have finally opened up and you can see,
That the love I was giving is the best and it had you mesmerized into some kind of foreign land.
How easily it was to say I forgive you and everything would be all right,
But for some reason the thought of what you've done to me haunts me every night.
I can't seem to get that day out of my mind, when you told me that you would rather be hers than mine,
Now you're saying "I love you" and everything's going to be fine.
It was all good at the beginning but now I'm having second thoughts.
Sometimes I feel as if I'm being compared to her, like no matter what I do it's just never right,
I love you and nothing will ever change that, but I'm tired of fight after fight.
We're always saying we're sorry and it'll never happen again,
If only you could see what you've done to me.
The nights of crying and the days of loneliness,
Nothing will never be able to cover up this big, big mess!
You say "my heart belongs to you and only you",
Only if you knew how bad I want to believe that.
See I can't love you like I used to,
You've hurt me way to bad.
At first I thought I could forgive and forget,
But I now know that no matter how much I try
To think about that day it still makes me cry.
I know because I have you, that I should be happy
But I just can't bring myself to trust you.
I've seen her at your mother's house way too many times,
To believe that you're not seeing or talking to her, just confuses my mind.
So maybe this will help me to tell you,
Baby you know I love you
But we're through!
