Cannot be held
I hang up the phone with you
Not saying the words
(I love you)
For the pure fact
that I enjoy keeping them inside
Desperately trying
to contain them
a little game
I play with myself
the bliss
I find in the frustration
of holding in
the greater bliss
I find in letting them out
Spilling over you
If I taped our conversations
the words
may not even be recorded
the tape
would tangle itself
how can you capture something
as pure and natural
as sunlight
some things
cannot be held in boxes or jars
but must be carried in something
as pure and natural
as they are-
one's heart
