Son of My Sun
True, I cannot
believe it is you
who calms my
rivers with your
eyes, it is you
who calms my
nature with your
voice
My King from
soils so far away
that I have never
touched, but can
only imagine
Let me calm you
rivers with my
quiet storm
currents, ripples,
and waves flow
within to bring
us into sync
How could it be
that I could be
so in tune to you
and you to me?
I look to the serene
beautiful union that
will one day be yours
and mine
Son of my Sun
you are a twinkle
in Gods eye, show
me the way ever
deeper into your
heart
My King,
touched with the
soul, genius,
skill of body and
motion
of a thousand great pasts
As sure as the son
meets its horizon
it is clear
how two paths
meet as one
Write-her Realized
Your last peace of sanity
was living here in this town,
of course its no New York
but it kept you sane
says my friend
See I was a weirdo
some kids thought
always looking for things
with color that sparkle and shine
Searching for meaning in
peoples words
books words
my minds words
looking up at clouds
for hours
Smelling grass and flowers
crying for no reason at all
then writing my feelings and
realizations thinking
of my dreams in my head
see I was a weirdo
some kids thought
Taking serious things lightly
and light things too serious
setting up make believe worlds
in my mamas living room
when there was no TV
being people I thought I wanted
to be
didnt want to be me
With my affinity for writing, dancing
and drama-antics
mama took us to theater, lectures
and cultural affairs,
I wondered, why other kids dont
be at these things ?
well at least not the ones I knew
I wish she would have told me
youre an artist baby
and this is your training ground
and these people will be your friends
one day youll feel right at home
keep on creating and never be
ashamed of who you are
I was searching for those
who were like me
so I roamed the Loop
on Saturday days
where the punk rockers,
painters and jewelry makers
hang
Saying hello to neat
people who I thought wouldnt
hurt me
making conversation and
taking good luck gifts as
I went along
Many people I have met
Whove embraced me
Giving me strength on my
Journey
many a tearful day
many a night screaming
and kicking, thinking
of my dreams in my head
But God and the heavens
watched over me guiding
me, saying shes doing fine
now, shes right where she
needs to be
Now the muse comes forth
I am grateful and smiled upon
the weird creative woman
in me
weird in a good way
I realized
Story of a Star
She thinks shes a star
neighbors whisper as she
walks down the steps and
onto the sidewalk
she doesnt stop to look at
whos whispering, shes
above that
and she has more
important things to do
she looks taller
than usual cause
shes got on heels
today and she is a star
so she believes, in her mind
she has visions of doing
spectacular things
like dance with a world
renowned dance company
like acting on Broadway
or singing at Carnegie Hall
but she will wait
wait until things are
just perfect or
until I am taller, thinner and
have more money
today she has on her everyday
jeans and everyday sweater and
everyday black beret
wearing the same jacket shes
had for eight years
no matter how cold it is
and her clothes
are all a shade of brown and gray
but her face
how colorful it is!
how bright!
and picturesque!
it is the face of a star
lipstick in
smooth burgundy
lavendar eyeshadow
mauve blush
on her cheeks
Today is a special
day she thinks
because the sun
came out
shes a star
and her forum
is anywhere she goes
the grocery store
the laundry mat
the library
the subway
the bus
see, she hopes
someone will
recognize her
for her great
performances
the ones in
her head
from the visions
shes had
