Because I grew up on a farm, I lived close to nature, and have always written about it . Poetry is one of my favorite things to do. I am a wife, mother , and now a grandmother. I love to read, travel and see the world. My husband and I share many interests including doing things for others in small ways. I come from a large family, where we were encouraged to develop our own imaginations early!

A Fish in the RIVER OF GOD
Born to flow in the river of God
Moiled by the passage and grime
Over the sunlit eddies of green
Over the falls and the climb -
Ever to follow the shimmering stream
Ever to push to the sea;
Giving all fishes a chance to bequeath
The clones of all nature to be.
Born to bask in the velvety blue
Earning a place in the pool
Learning to swim in the broil of the reef
Diving - and daring - and cool!
Making a mark in the maelstrom of fears
Struggling to rise to acclaim
Flashing his pinkness to followers - peers
Chasing the rainbow of fame.
Born to resist the bilious waves
Elusively cheating the lure
Eyeing the temptress angling her bait
Finding the strength to endure;
Upward and onward - fighting the current
Courage - now jump for the sun!
White water is surging over the rocks
His body so bruised in the run
Born to the cycle - born in its time
He glides in his silvery scales
Soundlessly seeking an unwary lunch
Too weak in his prowess - he fails;
He is terribly weakened; he loses the gleam
He floats where the waters divide
Its the end of his journey - he sputters and drops
His body awash with the tide.
