The PhotoApects website doesn't allow comments and discussion. This was a bit of a touchy subject with some because not allowing people to have an opinion about our postings seems unheard of.

However, if you are a web site owner, you realize that the more popular your web site gets, the more SPAM you get. When we were on a blog web site-platform we would get messages all the time that read, "this is the most amazing web site ever, buy watches cheap" We get worse messages too. Quickly, we realized that we were spending significant time on clicking the "Spam Comment" command.

After a while, the real and significant comments get railroaded by the Spammers and they become more effort than they are worth. Or even worse, unmoderated comments generally turn into a political discussion. I don't know how people can turn a post about camera equipment into Republican vs. Democrat, but they always seem to be able to do so.

The very worst are those who seem to be able to spout off more curse words per minute than a ship full of sailors. (No offense Navy Seamen as I have the utmost respect for you) It is just weird to me that when someone gets in front of their keyboard, they instantly become the smartest person on the planet and will prove that to anyone who dares cross them.

We found that by allowing comments too we were getting fake people (shills) visiting who were simply there to say bad things about what we posted. If one of our contributors writes something about a product or service, sharing their insight and opinion about the use of that product or service, some found it necessary to try to defend the product. They would find it necessary to show how wrong the author was in their opinion.

We want to foster a place/web site where photographers are free to share their experiences with places, products and services to help others in the field make wise and informed decisions about their precious time and dollar investments.

Our focus here is to share what we have learned in our many years as professional photographers, giving those who are just starting out a place to come for relevant advice and opinions. We are not trying to stifel your opinion. Quite the contrary. We are sharing ours.

You are free to start a web site on your own and share your opinions as much as you would like. And you can choose to allow comments if you would like.

There are opportunities to ask your questions or share your opinions. Simply send us a note through our contact form or apply to be a contributor and someone should get back with you. If we are super busy, it may be a while, but we try to answer all legitimate questions and sharings.
